helpful tips to safeguard your skin’s health against the elements:
Tips to help your skin Brave the cold weather
Smooth and Soothe- try a lotion with salicylic acid to exfoliate dead skin cells for a youthful glow on your face and body.
Glove up- moisturize hands with a heavy cream or lotion and cover with white cotton gloves for a couple hours, or even overnight. This helps trap in moisture and aids in the deeper penetration of the cream.
Lip Care- gently exfoliate lips weekly with a soft damp toothbrush. Apply Vitamin E to protect new smooth lip cells.
Remember your Sunscreen- you still need protection against the harsh UVA and UVB rays even in the cold winter months.
Consult with a specialist- A visit to your local esthetician is a good investment. That's right, come see us! We can troubleshoot your current skin care regimen and give professional advice on products to keep your skin in optimum health.
Moisture your home! Humidifiers keep create a healthier atmosphere for body, skin, hair and nails. They will definitely thank you! Anything from an open dish with water on the counter to a small humidifier in each room will make a healthy difference.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate- if you want supple skin, you NEED to drink enough water. How much? At least 8-10 glasses are a good average. Water is necessary for your everyday body function to occur properly. Your skin is the largest organ and the last to soak up the water, just a friendly reminder. It’s a matter of health!
No extreme heat! Continued exposure to extreme heat breaks down lipid barriers which can lead to loss of moisture. You’re better off with a short, lukewarm shower or bath. And always remember to moisturize your damp skin
Remember- Be kind to your feet! Treat your feet well and they’ll be good to you. A winter pedicure works wonders! (Yes - you can visit us at Lamberti's for pedicures as well) Your feet will be sure to thank you.
Be sure to perform your nightly skin care routine- Any time before bed is good! It’s crucial to prevent unnecessary dryness. Gently cleanse, followed with a serum that’s appropriate for your skin type, and apply moisturizer with no sunscreen.
